Patrols, please note, a month remains for the point system and qualification for the National Honor Patrol before the June Court of Honor. Where do you stand? Have you held patrol meetings, outdoor activities, and completed service projects?
Canoe Trip Permission slip due but scouts need to confirm attendance with Mr. Popik or Mr. Sewell before this Monday May 26, so the correct number of canoes can be reserved.
Saco Canoe Trip June 7-8; Practice May 27 Mine Falls
Calling all swimmers, get summer started with a canoe trip down the Saco River! We will put canoes in at Swan Falls (near Conway,NH see map below) and paddle about 15 winding miles downriver to our campsite for an overnight campout. Cost $15 each + patrol food cost. Bring a fishing pole, but over 12 years old requires a Maine fishing license, which is confusing as further upriver in NH, June 7 is a free fishing day.
See Permission slip for more info. Time is short, reservations needed,so PLEASE contact Mr. Popik or Mr. Sewell before Memorial Day if you plan to attend!
All paddlers need to be familiar with canoe handling techniques so a practice session will be held this Tuesday May 27, at 7:00pm sharp at Mine Falls Park, Conway Ice Arena (across street from Nashua Police). Equipment will be provided, bring your own if you wish. For those not going on the canoe trip, there will still be a regular troop meeting at Pilgrim Church that same night.

Much effort and service are required for the scouting journey to Eagle; few scouts earn Eagle. Three of the four had started the journey early in first grade as a Tiger scout. But scouting is mostly fun, as scouts and leaders recalled experiences to the audience. Mr. Perkins humorously remarked that sometimes these scouts needed a "push", a service expertly provided by himself and Mr. Harris.
Mayor Lozeau reminded our Eagles of the importance of giving back to the community and hoped they would return to Nashua after college. She then looked at our younger scouts seated in the first three rows and remarked "The World needs more Eagle Scouts". The words struck a chord with one Life Scout who approached Mr. Perkins after, "I think I need a push." Click for more photos.

Summer Camp Questions and Answers:
1. Is the troop attending Hidden Valley(HV) this summer?
No, but scouts may attend Hidden Valley as a Provisional Camper(s) during any week. At the Provisional campsite, camp counselors serve as scoutmasters for the Provisional Troop and scouts form patrols and elect troop officers on the first day.
To register for HV Provisional Camp, signup online at the Daniel Webster Council website. Depending on bookings, you may be able to register just a week before camp, but you pay full price and take your chances on space being available. Get some scouts together and register early.
2. What gift suggestions do you have for summer camp?
Pack towel - less bulky, more absorbant, quick drying. Size medium or bigger $15-30. Available from EMS, REI, Campmor
